A woman charged with armed robbery makes a deal to exchange information for leniency in her case. She tells Rush and Valens that she saw something in August 1978, the night that Missy Gallavan, a 15 year old rollerskate speed queen, died.
She says that she was outside of a skating rink and saw Missy get into a van with a spaceship painted on the side. Missy was found dead in a drainage ditch at a nearby park. She had blunt force trauma to her head and abrasions on her palms and knees. Missy also had fabric on her body and skin samples under her fingernails.
With this new lead, the police decide to reopen the case.
They call in Missy's mom, Simone, who worked as a legal secretary until 2am that night. She says that her husband left and she was taking care of Missy by herself. Just before she died, Simone remembers Missy met with an 18 year old girl, Julia Reed. She overheard Julia inviting Missy to go to the late night skating session. Julia was offering to lend her some clothes and do her makeup.
